What Are Dental Prostheses?

Dental prostheses are false teeth, removable (mobile), meant to replace the missing teeth. Your dentist may recommend complete (total) prostheses or partial prostheses, depending on the number of missing natural teeth.

Dental prostheses are created to match the existing teeth, so that they are not too visible. In spite of this, the patient’s getting accustomed to the prostheses may be a lengthy process and rather difficult, especially when it comes to eating or speaking. Dental prostheses need to be cleaned every day, just like the usual teeth. Our medical team will provide you with all the details regarding the methods and techniques of the necessary hygiene.

Although dental prosthesis is a good treatment option, dental implants have become patients’ first option, allowing the replacement of the missing teeth with fixed dental dentures.

Our team recommends the dental prosthesis treatments to patients suffering from serious general or chronic conditions, who cannot benefit of dental implant treatments, to very anxious patients (who avoid surgical interventions and to whom we are ready to offer more alternatives to reduce anxiety). Last but not least, we recommend this type of treatment to patients in financial difficulties.

Our team does not recommend the dental prosthesis treatment to patients who:

  • wish an aesthetic restoration of their teeth, since mobile prostheses have a typical aspect of “false teeth”
  • present an excessive vomiting reflex – these patients do not stand the prosthesis on the roof of their mouth
  • run an artistic or social activity, due to the risk of prosthesis loosening during the activities.

Important

OZONO prosthodontists always recommend the restoration of the missing teeth with dental implants as a first treatment option.

Types of Mobile Prostheses

OZONO offers a large variety of mobile prostheses, the solutions offered being customized based on each patient’s demands and clinical condition. Therefore, the assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan are achieved by a multidisciplinary team coordinated by the prosthodontists. Part of the prostheses we make are:

  • Skeletal prosthesis
  • Elastic prosthesis
  • Acrylic prosthesis
  • Kemmeny type prosthesis

Mobile Prosthesis Step by Step

1.      Assessing the patient and creating a mutually agreed treatment plan.

2.      Taking the preliminary functional dental impression: this step refers to taking the imprint of teeth and gums and forming the casts.

3.      Dental occlusion and bite registration: each patient has a unique way of touching his/her teeth when closing his/her mouth.

4.      Diagnostic wax-up: the doctor will check the way the denture fits into the patient’s mouth and the patient may ask for changes.

5.      Placing the mobile prosthesis: the patients received the denture

6.      The adjusting sessions: they are necessary most of the times, since at the beginning the prosthesis results in small injuries of the mucous membrane, which makes its adjustment necessary by the doctor.

Mentions

  • the dental prosthesis treatment involves laboratory steps (dental technique)
  • the duration varies from case to case, from 14 up to 20 days
  • dental prostheses are dentures which require ongoing maintenance services like small linings when they become large, due to the recession of the bone on which they are placed on. Sometimes they may break or crack because of strikes, but they may be easily repaired

How Much Does It Cost?

The price of a dental prosthesis depends on the material it is made of (metal, acrylate, biohpp, etc.), on the type of the false teeth used (acrylate, composite, porcelain, zirconia). Thus prices start from 1366 RON, the price of a mobile acrylic prosthesis. An elastic mobile prosthesis costs 2327 RON, while a skeletal prosthesis costs 2944 RON.

The prosthodontist will offer you the best custom-made prosthetic treatment alternatives, while the patient will opt for the most appropriate one.

The OZONO offer includes payment in 12 monthly interest-free instalments. You can also opt for our Patient Credit, with minimum interest and a reimbursement period at your choice, up to 20 years.
